Our goal at S.P.A.C.E. is to improve parent understanding of how their parenting style affects no ontly their child but other children in the school environment. We also work to improve parent support of each other and participation on the school campus.Through participation in our program parents will learn how to provide the appropriate care for their individual child. Parents and cildren will see a bright future where anything is possible.
Parenting Group and Educational Workshop:
Monica and Raquel will facilitate a monthly workshop and support group on the school campus. The following topics will be addressed.
Pro-Active Parenting
Effective Communjcation/Diversity
Nurtuing and Discipline
Structure and Consistency
Fall Topic review and Parent Questions
Parent focus: Self Care for parents
Working with your child's school
Mental Health and your child
Fun with your child at all ages

Monica Lopez: Behavioral Specialist:
Monica has over 16 years of experience assisting children and families with behavioural concerns. Monica also has unique experience assisting children and families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. M onica is a compassionate and understading consultant and advocate due largely in part to how Autism has affected her personal life. Monica is a Co-Presenter in the monthly workshop series designed to address specific home and school behaviors for children and parents. Monica's expertise will be combined with the therapeutic skills of her S.P.A.C.E. Program partner Raquel Rollins.
Raquel Rollins LMFT:
Raquel our Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist has over six years of experience providing therapy to children, parents and families. Raquel also has a background in early childhood education and over ten years of experience working with child development programs. Raquel had been a volunteer in Compton Unified School District for ten years. After spending so much time on school campuses Raquel saw a need to privde parents with more support and interventions for their children. Raquel alos noticed tha the relationships between parents and teachers are often strained due to misunderstandings. The S.P.A.C.E. workshop was created as a sloution to this problem. .
